Elettronica GmbH (ELT) has been active in electronic warfare (EloKa) as a company in the German security and defense industry for over 40 years. The company enables the Bundeswehr to carry out electronic warfare by integrating, supporting and repairing EloKa sensors in military carrier platforms and developing test, validation and training systems.
ELT was founded in 1978 as a repair workshop and logistical hub for the Starfighter F104 Elettronica ELT 70/73 radar jammer of the German Air Force. These skills have been expanded over the years, so that today ELT is responsible for the logistical and operational support of the electronic warfare systems in the Eurofighter EuroDass and NH90 NFH helicopter programs. In addition, ELT is the general contractor for the ground-based systems KWS-RMB (ELINT) and KWS-Hornisse (ECM). For authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS), ELT has been successfully developing monitoring and operation control systems for over 20 years and integrating them into vehicles.
Our story is the story of people who have worked with us over these long years, putting their talent and versatility at the service of the company and at the service of our armed forces and security forces.
The history of Elettronica Ltd.
Elettronica GmbH (ELT) was founded in 1978 as a repair workshop and logistics hub for the German Air Force's Starfighter F104 Elettronica ELT 70/73 radar jammer. Meckenheim near Bonn was chosen as the location in order to be close to the user, the German Air Force. Five employees took over the technical testing, repair and provision of the R-ECM ELT 70 / 73 systems used.
In the 1980s and 1990s, ELT developed into a general contractor for ground-based EloKa systems. As a system integrator and logistical supervisor, ELT took over the development and provision of the ELINT RMB system, later also in the enhanced combat variant on TPz Fuchs, as well as the ECM system Hornisse, later again in the enhanced combat variant on TPz Fuchs. The ELT thus began to make its contribution to enabling the German army to conduct electronic warfare with a reconnaissance and HF jamming system.
In the major European projects Eurofighter Typhoon and NH90 helicopter, ELT was able to expand its logistical capabilities for EW systems, so that today ELT electromechanically manufactures parts of the Eurofighter EuroDass self-protection system and supports them logistically in the Eurofighter air force squadrons in Neuburg and Laage. In addition, ELT builds the entire ELT ESM antenna system for the NH90 NFH helicopter and takes over the operational EW support in the naval aviation squadron in Nordholz.
With its own BeDoKW production line and THW Weiterwehrstrupp, ELT successfully entered the public safety market in 2009. The success was confirmed by the expansion of the product portfolio through the provision of mobile systems for video surveillance and undercover investigation. The system integration capabilities could also be expanded in the military segment by integrating the COMINT MoGeFa system in mine-protected Yack trucks.
In 2014, ELT was commissioned to develop, provide and support a state-of-the-art EK simulation and validation system for the WTD 71 of the German Navy. This seaworthy EK simulator in a 20ft container gave the ELT the opportunity to expand their own systems engineering capabilities and to develop their own line of radar/EW test and validation systems. ELT test and validation systems can be used by armed forces and sensor houses throughout the entire life cycle of electronic warfare systems (from development to acceptance to operational readiness). In 2018, the ELT was commissioned to redevelop the NATO JEWCS land and sea-based test and validation systems.
